Q: Why hire a Landscape Designer to plan my yard when so many Landscape Contractors include this as part of their service?

A: I work specifically with you to design a yard that best meets your needs, lifestyle, preferences, budget and timetable. I don't profit from designing more expensive landscapes, so I won't try to convince you to install an elaborate brick patio when a simple brushed concrete one will do. Also. when you work with a designer, you own the landscape plan. This allows you flexibility: you can hire professionals, do some of it yourself, or install it in stages
as you can afford it.

Q: But isn't using a Landscape Designer expensive?

A: Not at all. In addition to saving time and effort, it often saves you money. If hiring landscape contractors, a landscape plan expedites the bidding process because everyone is bidding on EXACTLY the same materials, plants, etc. If you plan to do some of the work yourself, a plan will save you the frustration and disappointment of expensive mistakes. I can put it all together to make your ideas work in a functional yet beautiful landscape.

Q: Do I need to know what I want before I talk to a Landscape Designer?

A: You need to have a basic idea of what you'd like to accomplish, but skilled questioning by the designer to help determine even your hidden wants and needs is a very important part of the process. I will discuss the full range of choices and options open to you to help you make "informed choices" about everything from pools and spas, decks and patios, and lighting and irrigation, to trees, shrubs and flowers. With so many options available, professional guidance can help you make your best choices. I always consider everyday usage practicalities (do you need a play area?) future growth potential (will you want a pool after the toddlers are grown?) and multi-use possibilities (is there enough lawn for outdoor sports?) into consideration when creating your final design. You will probably find yourself saying "I never even thought about that!" several times.

Q: What can I expect when I call a Landscape Designer?

A: I come to your home to give you an estimate, bringing my portfolio of photos and sample landscape plans. We walk the yard as I listen to your ideas, ask questions and make suggestions. Price is determined by the size of your yard and how elaborate the design. My services start with a rough draft for revision and a final working landscape plan to scale. Plans include lawn shapes, plant choices and their locations, and ideas for pools, ponds, patios, decks, walks, arbors, sports courts, play and work areas and special considerations for children and pets will be included. I can also help you choose a contractor and am always available to answer any questions you may have even after you've received the final plan. Your landscape is an extension of your home, invest wisely and you will enjoy the rewards while you live there and when it is time to sell.
